Does MondeID meet NCQA requirements for primary source verification (for example NCQA CR 3)?

MondeID is designed to support electronic Primary Source Verification (PSV) in line with NCQA CR 3 and similar Joint Commission expectations, by:

Verifying credentials directly against issuer systems and signatures, not screenshots or manual lookups.
Producing a timestamped verification artifact that can be filed as PSV evidence.
Ensuring the verification result is logically identical to the source record, rather than a re-keyed copy.

Your organisation, CVO or medical staff office remains responsible for meeting all NCQA and Joint Commission standards, including staff review and sign-off.

MondeID does not act as an NCQA-certified CVO and does not replace your credentialing policies or procedures.

If we use MondeID, do we still need our CVO or delegated credentialing partner?

Accepted Answer

Yes. MondeID is PSV infrastructure, not a replacement for your CVO or medical staff office.

Your CVO, internal credentialing team or medical staff office still:
Defines credentialing policy and criteria.
Reviews PSV outputs and other evidence.
Makes privileging and appointment decisions.

MondeID simply provides a faster, cryptographically-verified PSV rail they can use instead of repeated manual checks, portals and screenshots.

Question 3

We re-credential clinicians every two or three years. How does MondeID fit into that process?

Accepted Answer

MondeID is built to slot into your existing re-credentialing cycles:

At re-credentialing time, your team or CVO can call MondeID again to obtain fresh PSV evidence for licences and degrees.
Each verification generates a new, dated artifact that can go straight into the credentialing file.
You can run targeted rechecks where policy requires (for example: licence status every 2 years)

You keep your existing re-credentialing intervals and workflows; MondeID just replaces manual PSV steps with an API-based, issuer-signed check.

Question 4

Can we use MondeID for more frequent checks or ongoing licence monitoring?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Because MondeID is an API, you can:

Run ad-hoc rechecks before key events (new privileges, changes in role, agency onboarding).
Optionally configure more frequent licence checks (for example monthly or quarterly) where policy or risk appetite requires.

MondeID does not decide your monitoring schedule and does not replace any formal ongoing-monitoring requirements from NCQA or Joint Commission.

It simply makes it practical and low-cost to check licence status more often, if you choose to.

Do we need a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with MondeID?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, no. MondeID is designed so that:

We do not process or store PHI as part of verification.
We handle credential metadata and cryptographic proofs, not clinical notes or treatment information.
Issuers and employers remain the systems of record for any PHI.

Because of this, MondeID is generally not acting as a HIPAA Business Associate.

However, your own privacy, legal and compliance teams should make the final determination based on how you implement MondeID and what data you choose to pass through it.

Question 6

If an NCQA or Joint Commission surveyor asks for evidence, what does the MondeID output look like?

Accepted Answer

For each verification, MondeID can provide a file-ready artifact that includes:

Clinician identifier (as configured by you).
Issuer identity (board, university or authority).
Credential type and key fields (e.g. licence type, status, issue/expiry, degree, completion date).
Verification result (for example: “Active – verified with issuer”).
Timestamp and reference to the cryptographic anchor used.

Your CVO or credentialing staff still review, interpret and sign off on these artifacts as part of your normal process.

MondeID simply makes the PSV portion cleaner to demonstrate and defend.

Does MondeID replace our credentialing file or our privileging decisions?

Accepted Answer

No. MondeID does not:

Replace your credentialing file or system of record.
Issue suitability opinions or privileging recommendations.
Decide whether to hire, re-credential or grant privileges.

MondeID only provides PSV evidence that your existing processes, policies and committees can rely on.

We already use a CVO or credentialing system. How does MondeID integrate with that?

Accepted Answer

MondeID is intended to be embedded alongside your existing tools, not to replace them. Typical patterns include:

Your CVO or software vendor calling MondeID’s API to obtain PSV results, which are then attached to the clinician’s record.
Your internal teams using MondeID for specific PSV checks (for example: board status) while your CVO handles the broader file.
Joint models where the CVO remains the primary contact, and MondeID is the underlying PSV rail they use for certain data sources.
